The standard back of the top of the hutch is beautiful tongue and groove solid wood. The back of the bottom of the hutch is a solid plywood--the best choice to reduce warping or buckling. The hutch top is delivered with blocks (that are stained with the hutch) on the bottom of each side to protect it during shipping. Take slight pressure to them with a screwdriver to pop them off before setting the hutch top on the buffet.
